When you wake up in the morning, close your eyes and visualize money falling all over you, floating and drifting from the sky and gathering around you.
Why?
Because many of us have a scarcity mindset around money that we have acquired in childhood. If this is you, don't feel bad. This is the norm in our society. Commonly held attitudes have included:
Money doesn't grow on trees.
Earning money requires hard work.
Money is the root of all evil.
Money is dirty.
Rich people are greedy or corrupt.
It's no wonder that most people exist in a state of having 'only just enough'.
The beginning of a new financial year feels like an opportune time to talk about money. The energy of money is shifting on this planet. It's time to start thinking about money as a positive energy source - a way to make beautiful things happen. Money feeds people, heals people, entertains people, and helps people learn and grow. Money removes restrictions and creates opportunities. The more money we have, the more impact we can have in the world. Rather than being scarce, money is abundant - it can be printed. If we can start to see money as a positive force to create possibilities, we can remove the perception that it is something to 'have or accumulate' or something that we are required to be worthy of. The goal is to understand money's accessibility. Trusting that it will always be available enables us to allow it to flow in and out with gratitude, grace, and a sense of security.

There are so many ways money can be used for good. You could:
- Take a trip
- Start a business
- Create something beautiful
- Plant a garden
- Learn a new skill
- Give gifts
- Buy higher quality items to avoid waste
- Take care of your health
- Donate
- Care for others
- Decorate your home
- Enjoy art and culture
- Have more freedom and flexibility
The opportunities that money can create help us to become well-rounded people who can inspire, teach, and share with others. They enable us to do things that make us happy, which provides a flow-on effect to those around us. When we move out of survival mode into a state that is in sync with the abundance that the universe has to offer, we create space to do those things that light us up, that contribute, and that create change in the world. Money can turn dreams into realities. It can propel us towards lives that are richer and more meaningful.

Changing perceptions around money takes intention. It is easy to understand something intellectually, but it is another thing to take a new thought as part of you - to have it nestle into your soul. If, like me, you are ready to take your money mindset to the next level, here are some strategies that you might try:
Repeating affirmations that reinforce your new beliefs regarding money...
Reminding yourself of other types of abundance - family, opportunities, lovely weather...
Practicing gratitude for abundance in friendships, food, health, your belongings...
Noticing the diverse ways that money comes into your life...
And rather than thinking about what you can or cannot afford to do, think about what you would like to do. Start dreaming about all the future possibilities. Develop the habit of seeing money as less limited. See yourself and your life as already abundant. Think of new ways to live 'as if' you already have the abundance you desire. There are so many ways to have fun with this. Think back to childhood. Play....
You could:
- Journal about a day in your ideal life
- Create a bucket list
- Plan what you would do if you won a million dollars
- Make a vision board, book or screensaver
- Plan a trip
- Use Pinterest to create a wish list
- Attend a house inspection or auction
- Test drive your dream car
- Dress for your future life
- Write yourself a check
- Write a thankyou letter to the universe
- Indulge in small luxuries
- Give money to a homeless person
- Enter competitions
When you are feeling inspired, take actions towards your goals and dreams. Tend to your finances. Set up savings accounts. Organise your tax records. Plan the ways that you want to use your money. Celebrate small wins, gains and surprises. Learn about the law of attraction and manifestation. Look for signs and synchronicities. Notice the magical ways in which money ebbs and flows. Start to see these as normal and inevitable. Enjoy the abundant low-cost and free activities that are available - Parks, galleries, museums, libraries, outdoor events, festivals, author talks, poetry readings, book signings, lunchtime concerts. Retailers are falling over themselves offering discounts and vouchers. Coffee cards abound. The movies are no longer full price - I've been several times and there is almost no one there. Many online services offer free trials - Audible, Kindle Unlimited. There are also free or low cost courses available. The world is abundant! All we have to do is allow ourselves to accept the abundance that is here for us.
